Finding the perfect holiday accommodation

Finding the right place to stay may or may not be top of your list when planning a holiday, but we think finding the perfect place makes all the difference. So far, we have been really lucky with the places we have stayed in and have been asked by lots of people how we always tend to find such amazing places. We decided to put together a list of the top things we think you should think about.

Key things to think about

  • Location
Location location location. We cannot stress this enough! We think this is the most important thing to think about as it will have a big impact on your holiday. Do you want to have everything on your doorstep? Do you want to be away from the hustle and bustle? Do you want beautiful views? Location is everything! Before you go, decide what sort of holiday you would like to have and spend some time researching the area.
  • Cost. Obviously.
Clearly this matters so set yourself a sensible budget and don’t go overboard. Refrain from even glancing at those expensive places that are way over budget!
  • Type of accommodation
This will probably vary from holiday to holiday depending on who you are going with and what sort of budget you have. You need to think about the type of place you would like to stay in. Manny and I tend to opt for apartments and this is because we love having our own space as well as having the option to cook our own food.
When we were in Eindhoven, we stayed in a hotel simply due to the options that were available to us along with cost. The thing we liked about this was that breakfast was included in our stay and meant we could stock up on food each morning!
If you are going with a group of people, want somewhere dead cheap and aren’t too bothered about having your own space, a hostel may be more up your street.

Key thing to remember

  • Filter filter filter/refine refine refine! Once you have decided on the above criteria, make sure you refine your search results. This prevents there being tons of options for you to trawl through and also means you won’t be tempted by somewhere way over budget.

Where to look

  • My go to website is booking.com simply because I think it has such a good range of options – it has apartments, hostels, hotels and b&b’s – there is something for everyone! You can get £15 off your first booking on the site by clicking here.
  • Airbnb has become a recent favourite of ours and has some really great options. The thing to be mindful of is that a cleaning fee and service fee are added AFTER you click on somewhere to stay so you should think about this when filtering down the cost. Click here to get money off your first booking on airbnb.
